Are electronic signatures legal in Sri Lanka?
Yes. Under the Electronic Transactions Act No. 19 of 2006, an electronic signature is legally valid if it reliably identifies the signer and shows their intent. Some documents are excluded and still need a traditional signature — notably wills and other testamentary documents, negotiable instruments, and property deeds. This is general information, not legal advice.
Is this a secure / cryptographic digital signature?
No. This tool creates a visual signature image and places it on a PDF — perfect for everyday forms, letters and agreements. It is not a cryptographic PKI digital signature (which mathematically binds the signer to the document). For high-stakes legal documents, use a qualified e-signature provider.
Is my signature or document uploaded anywhere?
